FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about ThrowCheck

How does the analysis work?

ThrowCheck uses advanced computer vision (Google MediaPipe) to detect 33 key body landmarks in your pitching video. Our proprietary algorithms then analyze elbow angle, shoulder rotation, trunk movement, and timing to calculate biomechanical risk scores.

The entire analysis happens in your browser using WebAssembly—no video upload required. You get results in seconds, not days.

Is my video data private?

Absolutely. Your video never leaves your browser.

All pose detection and biomechanical analysis runs 100% locally on your device. We don't store, upload, or have access to your video files. Only you see your footage. This is core to our privacy-first philosophy.

How accurate is ThrowCheck?

Our algorithms are trained on biomechanical research and validated against motion capture data. For optimal accuracy:

  • Film from the side (3rd base line for righties, 1st base for lefties)
  • Ensure good lighting and minimal background clutter
  • Capture the full body from foot plant through release
  • Use 60+ fps if possible (30 fps minimum)

While not a replacement for professional biomechanical assessment, ThrowCheck provides informational analysis of movement patterns associated with injury risk in research literature. Accuracy depends on video quality and should be interpreted alongside professional expertise.

Who is ThrowCheck for?

ThrowCheck is designed for:

  • Youth and high school coaches — screen entire rosters for injury risk
  • Travel ball programs — monitor mechanics throughout the season
  • College and pro scouts — evaluate durability alongside talent
  • Parents — get peace of mind about their young pitcher's health
  • Pitching coaches — track progress and validate mechanical changes

What are the technical requirements?

ThrowCheck runs in modern web browsers that support WebAssembly:

  • Chrome/Edge 91+ (recommended)
  • Safari 15+ (macOS/iOS)
  • Firefox 89+

Video formats: MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI
Recommended: Desktop/laptop for best performance (tablets and modern phones work too)

Is the analysis generated by AI?

Yes. All ThrowCheck analysis is AI-generated.

We use computer vision AI (Google MediaPipe) for pose detection and proprietary machine learning models for biomechanical risk assessment. While trained on peer-reviewed research, AI analysis may contain errors and should not replace professional evaluation. For human expert consultation, contact contact@throwcheck.com.

Is ThrowCheck a medical diagnosis?

No. ThrowCheck is an informational tool, not a medical device.

Our analysis identifies biomechanical patterns associated with injury risk based on research, but it cannot diagnose injuries or predict individual outcomes. Always consult qualified medical professionals (sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers) for injury evaluation and treatment decisions.
